As Americans choose a new leader of the free world, a handful of London restaurants are breaking the cardinal rule of keeping politics off the dinner table.
So if you’re looking to stress-eat your way to the conclusion of this long, vicious election campaign, here’s the deal:
Donald Trump-inspired burgers are – to quote the man himself – YUUUGE right now. The Blues Kitchen is making burgers great again with its enormous “Trump Tower” burger, which is served with a wall of cheesy nachos.
Meanwhile, Gourmet Burger Kitchen is advertising its “really rich and incredibly cheesy” Rump Burger as its “thickest burger yet.”
At the American Bar at The Stafford Hotel, customers can get their regular burgers “Trumped up” by adding gold leaf, foie gras and truffle for £50. The bar will also be serving Clinton Club and T.Rump sandwiches.
If burgers aren’t your thing, NY Fold in Soho is serving election-themed pizzas. The Trump pizza is topped with bacon, pepperoni, sliced meatballs and Cumberland sausage, while the Clinton pizza features pulled pork and sweet corn, in honour of Clinton’s favourite restaurant Dinosaur Bar-B-Que in Syracuse, New York.
And for dessert, The Diner in Covent Garden has Trump and Clinton “freakshakes.”
